Duke Energy agrees to 7.2% N.C. rate hike (feeds.bizjournals)

Duke Energy Carolinas has worked out an agreement with North Carolina's
customer advocate to reduce its proposed rate hike to 7.2%. Originally, Duke
had asked for a 15% rate increase. But it had recently cut its proposal to a
12% overall increase. The company is also close to settling on a South
Carolina rate increase. Duke gave significant concessions on the rate hike in
North Carolina. The amount of new revenue to be raised from the rate increase
will total about $310 million, down from the $638 million the company
originally sought...
